Antibiotic Use
In the veterinary sector, the quantity of antibiotics sold has been reported annually by marketing authorization holders since 2008. The data is recorded in the Information System for Antibiotics in Veterinary Medicine (IS ABV) and published annually. For the first time, the publication is available on the dashboard of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office and as an open data set.

In 2022, data on the prescriptions of antibiotics in animals in Switzerland was published for the first time. Since 2019, veterinarians have been required to report all prescriptions of antibiotics for both farm and companion animals to the Information System for Antibiotics in Veterinary Medicine (IS ABV). Details on the IS ABV can be found on the FSVO website.
The data is published annually. For the first time, it is being published on the dashboard of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) and as an open data set.
