Datasource: prescription orders collected from the public pharmacies (provided by pharmaSuisse).
PharmaSuisse Outpatient Dataset Data in this interactive graphic come from pharmaSuisse. These data were provided by updating the database of
the professional cooperative of Swiss pharmacists (OFAC, Geneva). The prescription orders were collected at the individual level from
the public pharmacies and the invoices for the health insurance funds were prepared on behalf of the pharmacies. About 50% of all pharmacies in
Switzerland are covered. The data included the quantities of antibiotics sold to a certain number of persons
per age group (<2; 2-11; 12-17; 18-64; >64 years). Relative consumption was measured by the quantity in DDD.
The stacked bar chart shows the antibiotic consumption per antibiotic category, divided into the different age categories. Individual antibiotic
categories, the different regions and the desired year can be selected via the drop-down selection. The antibiotic consumption is indicated as a relative
proportion in percent of the total consumption in DDD.
The line charts show the antibiotic consumption in the selected antibiotic category over the years in the outpatient sector in the different age categories
and regions of the country. Individual antibiotic categories can be selected via the drop-down menu. The antibiotic consumption is indicated as a relative
proportion in percent of the total consumption in DDD.
